Ĥ) Using Notepad or other text editor create a file in the GPX folder named 'GPX.bat' and paste the following line of text into the file opened in Notepad: exiftool -fileOrder gpsdatetime -p gpx.fmt -d %Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%SZ > trip1.gpxĦ) Again using Notepad create a file named 'gpx.fmt and paste the lines of text (around 31 lines) detailed towards the bottom of this page (which refers to Inverse Geotagging), link: ħ) Save the 'gpx.fmt' file when the exact text shown at above link has been pasted in. The executable file extracted is "exiftool(-k).exe" copy it to the Desktop/GPX folder and rename program to "exiftool.exe". Here are the varous steps:ġ) Create a folder entitled 'GPX' on the Desktop (Windows 10 but earlier version of Windows would be very similar).Ģ) Download and install the Open Source program GeoSetter, link: ģ) Download and unzip the Open Source program (Windows Executable Option) ExifTool. I used a PC to compile the GPX file and the method I'm suggesting really requires a PC given that it would most likely not work if only a tablet / smartphone was at one's disposal. ![]() As I'm relatively new to posting on this site I've checked the rules re external links and nothing I'm posting here is related to advertising any program - all the programs I'm suggesting are Open Source thus are free for anyone to download. The process is not totally intuitive and I'm posting details here in order to assist other forum members in the event they have a similar need. The problem was that I don't have a GPS and, instead, had to generate a GPX file using photos taken throughout the day on the trip (camera / phone used that day had GPS functionality thus coordinates were embedded into each photo image file). I recently had the need to generate a GPX file (the log file normally created via a GPS) as I wanted to upload the GPX file to WH in order to show a trip route without having to use the 'manual draw' function.
